Reverse Winged Eyeliner Is Officially A Trend Now

Reverse winged eyeliner cropped up on Instagram and soon it became a trend. At first this might seem like a totally normally wing, but look a little closer and everything is not as it seems. Romanian makeup artist Dahlia, AKA Dahlia Creates, decided to try this out with drawing her cat eye flick on the inside of her eye, pointing towards her nose. And TBH it looks amazing. In fact it looks so damn good that other people have been inspired to try out the look as well, and we’re so on board.

This reverse winged eyeliner makeup trend looks like a seemingly simple cat-eye at first glance, until you realize which way the wing is pointing. It’s funky and fresh out of the box idea, and it may just be the most fantastic Instagram makeup trend we’ve seen all year.

While we haven’t yet seen the reverse winged liner painted on model’s faces at New York Fashion Week (which is happening right this second), we’re willing to bet that it will pop up on at least a few runways as fashion month continues. As they all say makeup isn’t about looking pretty, it’s about doing weird sh*t and showing off your skills. But to me, this trend is a lil bit trippy and I’m gonna try this look right away.

And, as long as you’re decent at applying regular eyeliner, it’s really not that hard to do. Once you get over the weirdness of painting a flick towards your nose, trying this reverse winged liner would be pretty easy. Just apply as normal, but start thin on the outsider corner and flick towards the nose. Your eyes will look closer together, but it’s a pretty cool way to look different for a day or so.
