Kasa Kay Mumbai! Mumbai, the city that never sleeps, is considered to be one of the best amongst all the metropolitan cities in India. People often mistake us Mumbaikars as proud, selfish or over smart people just because we belong from a city that is better than any other place in terms of everything. Ever since Mumbai has developed, it has always been compared majorly with India’s capital Delhi for almost every smallest of the reasons. From momos to vada pav, Mumbaikars and Delhites have somehow never been able to get along.
Well, technically speaking, Mumbai is way better than Delhi in every aspect. Wondering why? We have a list of reasons for you. Have a look and we’re sure all you Mumbaikars are going to love us a bit more.
Food is something that we love to experiment with. But let’s get real! Mumbai has the best and a huge variety of food to offer. If Delhi has Momos, then Mumbai has Vada Pav, Pav Bhaji, Shawarma, Pain Puri (which Delhites call it as Gol Gappa), Tapri ki Chai and what not! You have varieties in every variety of foods.
The city that never sleeps is open 24/7*365 days. Mumbai has the best night life that you can ever experience, after Goa. You have best of clubs and pubs with amazing crowd and awesome music. Whereas in Delhi, everything is shut by 10. To be honest, there are some places here that start by 10. Joke’s on you, Delhites!
Do I even need to say anything about this? Delhi should officially be declared as the ‘Land of the unsafe’. Girls in Mumbai can move around anywhere, anytime and can wear literally anything. And guess what? No one gives a rat’s ass about it. Delhi girls, do you know how roaming on the streets freely, especially at night feels like?
No, I’m not talking about starlit skies. I’m talking about Bollywood! All your favourite celebrities from Amitabh Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan to Salman Khan to Deepika Padukone to Virat Kohli to Sachin Tendulkar, every Bollywood actor/actress and almost every sports players resides in Mumbai. Also, not every concert of an international artist happens in Delhi. Mumbai is the place, my friend.
5. City of Dreams
Each and every person from our country comes to Mumbai to fulfil his/her dreams. You want to set up a financial start-up, Mumbai is the ideal place. You want to start a restaurant, Mumbai is officially the ‘Land of foodies’. You want to become an actor? You obviously won’t go to Delhi. For even people who are born and bought up in Delhi will come here.
Most of the richest businessmen in India started their businesses from this very business capital of India. Ambanis, Tata, Birla, you name it and we have it all. Mumbai has maximum number of investors and business tycoons that has changed the world for good. This city has literally made many rags to riches. Even our IPL team, Mumbai Indians performs better than Delhi Daredevils. Delhi, whom do you have? Arvind Kejriwal!
7. Mentality of the People
Very first thing, we express emotions too, but without saying ‘Bhenchod’ in every single sentence. I agree ‘Bhenchod’ is already termed as the ‘National emotion of India’, but we Mumbaikars don’t overdo it. We don’t have time to judge people on their dressing sense or how correctly they use their grammar or what profession are they into. But yes, we don’t unnecessarily wear leather jackets everywhere or eve tease girls for no reason at all or remove guns at any given situation, unlike you Delhites. You can be yourself in Mumbai.
Delhi, what do you have infrastructure wise? A couple of good malls, an airport that sucks, metro that is so God damn confusing. That’s it? Mumbai has beaches, Marine Drive, Nariman Point, Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Haji Ali Dargah, Bandra-Worli Sea Link, metro, local trains, an airport worth dying for, well-developed and spacious malls and everything that you probably lack.
People here are extremely kind and helpful. Again, we do not carry shitty attitude with us all the time. Mumbaikars believe in unity and helping each other at every point of time. In Delhi, people be like – “Jaanta hain mere baap kaun hain?” (Do you know who is my father). But in Mumbai, people be like – “Apne baap ko sikhaega?” (You will now teach your father?). Plus, Mumbai police is way more cooperative and helpful than Delhi police. And people in Mumbai use their brains at every point of time. Probably that is why we don’t have Dhinchak Pooja.
Delhi, if you have Sarojini Market and Lajpat Nagar, Mumbai has Bandra Linking Road and Colaba Causeway. We have better shopping options at a very affordable price than you do. Also, not to forget, we has better festivals too, like Kalaghoda.
Mumbai is not just a city, it is an emotion in itself. Once you’ve lived in Mumbai, it is impossible for you to settle down in any other city in India. That is what Mumbai does to you, it teaches you how to live. Delhi, we hope you keep on getting better and no offence to Delhites. After all, you are India’s capital.
