A hypnic jerk is a condition of involuntarily jiggle of a muscle or muscles. It is assumed that approximately 70 percent people have a hypnic jerk once in their lifetime. There could be various reasons for the hypnic jerk such as anxiety, stress, Alcohol, caffeine, a heavy exercise in the evening, sleeping in a very uncomfortable position, or extremely tired or fatigued. Sleep paralysis is a very bizarre situation where a person is not able to move his body parts, and it can last from few seconds to a minute. Under this condition, the person wakes up suddenly and feels like frozen. some people might also feel pressure or be choking like feeling. Sleep paralysis can give rise other sleep disorder such as narcolepsy. Narcolepsy is a very rare and serious condition of sleep disorder where a person sleeps excessively even during the day time and can fall asleep at any time and at inappropriate places. It usually occurs at two times one is a hypnagogic state where a person is just falling asleep or at a hypnopompic state where a person is just waking up. Sleep paralysis usually occurs due to lack of sleep, sleep routines that changes, stress or bipolar disorder, sleeping on the back, and few more conditions.

A lot of people might have come across this situation when someone told them that they were whispering in the sleep. Sleep talking or somniloquy is the act of talking while sleeping. It’s a kind of parasomnia an abnormal situation that happens during a sleep. It occurs most commonly and comes under a medical condition. These strange things certainly abrupt your beautiful nap and make you feel lethargic. It’s a fact that about 5 percent adults talk during a sleep. Girls have more of this problem than boys according to science. Usually, people mumble few words or long speeches which are hard to decipher. The above sleep disorder syndromes are somewhat less dangerous than this one. Sleepwalking is way too much dangerous and can be life-threatening as well. People suffering from this might walk into something, can trip themselves, leave their house, and can put them behind the wheels too. In sleepwalking a person’s brain is unconscious but body parts movement still goes on. The sleepwalker’s eyes are usually wide open with a glassy stare. These people might respond slowly or not respond at all under sleepwalking. The main cause of this disorder can be a chaotic sleep schedule, sleep, sleep deprived, consumptions of few drugs such hypnotics and neuroleptics, and stimulants. It usually occurs at the age between 4-8, but can happen to adults too. These strange things while sleeping are quite dangerous.

5. Exploding Head Syndrome

It’s a parasomnia which involves undesired events that occur during sleep. During this syndrome, a person feels a loud noise just before he falls asleep. It can feel like as if some bomb explosion has gone through your head. This can cause a lot of distress and fear among the sufferer. Sometimes a person feels as if they are going through a stroke. During the sleep, a flash of light might occur with a strange sound. This syndrome can also include a muscle twitch or a jerk.
