Mumbai – a city that never sleeps has everything measured in extreme. Starting from rains to heat, the temperature here in summers is just terrible to tolerate. The only thing that Mumbai lacks when it comes to being extreme is winters. We do not have winters. We have summers with Santa Claus. Coming back to the topic, once you’ve lived in Mumbai, you just cannot live anywhere else. The lifestyle here, especially the local trains are possibly the best and fastest source of commutation. Speaking of trains, we’ve a good news to share with all you Mumbaikars. From this September onwards, railways are introducing an air conditioned local train that will run on the Western Railways.
Yes, you read it right. Finally, the wait is over and you can now travel in A/C local trains from Borivali to Churchgate. Have a look at it.
The trials for the same have already started and we shall soon see ourselves travelling in peace (we hope so). Designed in Blue and Silver coloured tubes, the Western Railways has decided to start air conditioned trains in the Western and Central lines from September onwards. The authorities plan to design an organised system for boarding the trains (maybe, a queue) and the fare is expected to be somewhere on the lines of Delhi Metro fares. With automatic door system, the authorities will ensure that people don’t unnecessarily block the boarding process.
There will be frequent ticket checking in the coaches and the trains are expected to be cleaner. The rake can seat 1,028, while 4,936 standees can be accommodated at maximum capacity. Taking in consideration our fancy decorated new inventions like Tejas Express, all we hope is this one won’t fall prey to antics. All we can do is only hope, nothing else.
