A depressed person will talk about harming himself strongly or may even bring these thoughts up in conversations.

Depression is a huge risk which MUST NOT be overlooked. If you come across a person with odd behavior then talk to them and encourage them to open up about their problems. When dealing with a depressed you need to lend a ear and listen to their problems instead of judging them. Because judging will do nothing more than add oil to the fire.
