Horror movies: A torture device that scares us out of our wits but, we watch them even if they make us paranoid don’t we? Admit it, you do.
However we often forget that these movies are usually a work of fiction and that these ghosts don’t exist in real life, or do they? Well not all horror movies are a work of fiction because some are based of chilling real life incidents. So we have gathered a list of such movies whose story will give you the creeps. So let’s roll!
1) The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)
This movie was based on the real life haunting of Annalise Mitchelle who was believed to be haunted by 7 demons, a long court case trial later proved that she was suffering from a mental disorder however many couldn’t quite prove the strange circumstances that occurred before her death. This movie is based on Annalise’s death and the entire court case trial.
2) A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Wes Craven once revealed that he came up with the idea of the movie after reading an article of a boy who died in his sleep, there was nothing wrong with him physically but he did mention to his parents repeatedly that he was being haunted in his nightmare and that something was coming after him. The family had survived the Killing Fields in Cambodia. They didn’t believe the boy and later found it dead.
3) The Conjuring (2013)
One of the most successful horror movie The Conjuring was based on the notorious Enfield Case where the family was being haunted by unknown ghosts. Based on one of the cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s investigation The Conjuring was a truly horrifying case for the couple.
4) Annabelle (2014)
The infamous Annabelle doll has haunted many of our dreams and what’s more terrifying is that the doll is real! Unlike the porcelain doll in the movie, Annabelle or Elizabeth (its her real name) is a Raggedy Ann doll. And its even more creepy than the one in the movie.
5) The Haunting in Connecticut (2009)
The Haunting in Connecticut tells the story of the Snedeker family who rented a house in 1986 with their 4 children (1 daughter and 3 sons) only to later find out that the house was once a funeral parlor. The family later suffers from unspeakable situations after the eldest son complains about seeing ghosts. What follows are events of creepy and strange circumstances that inspired the director to create a movie.
6) The Possession (2012)
The movie is based on a dybukk box which was believed to be haunted. A dybukk box is basically a wine cabinet which is believed to be haunted by a dybukk which is a restless and evil spirit. Why it would haunt a wine cabinet is a question yet to be understood. However this specific dybukk box was sold on Ebay and the buyers always complained about having bad luck ever since. The movie is based on that case.
7) The Amityville Horror
The Amityville Horror is a movie which is based on the actual horrific murder of a family tat lived in Amityville. It was reported that the son of the family killed his family and his siblings while they were sleeping and later when people questioned him about the crime he said that someone made him do it without his permission. Sounds creepy right? It was believed to be a hoax but the strange events that followed in the crime are still questionable.
