1. Raaes is based on a true story of a criminal – Raees movie

Raees is basically is a true event based on an underworld figure named Adbul Latif. Abdul Latif was somehow connected to Dawood Ibrahim. He became a small-time bootlegger (make, distribute, or sell alcoholic drink or a recording illegally) and eventually monopolized the illegal liquor business in Gujarat. Latif was wanted for over 40 cases of murder and a similar number of kidnappings and was a suspect in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. He was arrested in the year 1995 and was housed at the Sabarmati jail pending trial. In November 1997, Abdul Latif was shot dead by the unknown people in Ahmedabad while allegedly trying to escape. He has two sons – Shaikh Arif and Mushtaq Shaikh.

2. This is Shah Rukh Khan’s first biographical film after 20 years – Raees movie

Even though many hardcore SRK fans are eagerly waiting for Raees to release as it features the King of Bollywood in a very different and negative role, for the first time, King Khan is doing a film based on a true-life event. Yes, it is very much true that in a span of 20 years, he has never acted in a biographical film. The inky movie that was close to reality involving Shah Rukh Khan was Asoka in 2001 which was based on a historic period drama.

3. Nawazuddin steps in the shoes of Farhan – Raees movie

Initially, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag actor, Farhan Akhtar was offered Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s role in Raees. But he opted out of the film, because he felt that his character was like the one he played in the movie Wazir. Had it been if he would’ve roped this role, it would’ve been the first time that SRK and Farhan Akhtar would share an on-screen space together.

4. Debutant Mahira Khan is not a debutant in the entertainment industry – Raees movie

Well, both SRK and Bhaijaan Salman Khan are known to introduce fresh faces to the industry. May it be Deepika Padukone or Anushka Sharma, who doesn’t aspire to be launched opposite the King of Romance? When it was announced that it is Mahira Khan who will be playing SRK’s ‘Mashuka’ in Raees, there was a similar reaction of ‘raised eyebrows’ by almost everyone. The Pakistani actress, though is making her debut in Bollywood, is not a fresh face in the entertainment industry.

Yes, you read it right. She has acted in several Pakistani movies and tried her hand on Television as well, before entering Bollywood. Hence, she may be termed as a debutante in Bollywood technically, but she is surely a renowned face in the entertainment industry.
