1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your career

2. What inspired you to start making DIY stuff?

Always been a creative bug. Started with tons of craft projects at home with mom & then decorating my room with all things pretty and that’s when I found my niche. It’s actually in the genes. My mom is very creative too.

3. Your first venture was “We Love Customade”, tell us a bit about that as well as your motivation behind it.

It started off with making bedazzled phone covers for myself because I saw that on TV and it was quite a buzz at that moment. So, I thought it was very simple to make so I gathered all the things that were required and I made it myself and then my friends and everyone in college asked me to make it for them as wells and as Joker says, “If you are good at something never do it for free” so I started charging them for that 😀

That is when my relatives and everyone from my family suggested me to start selling these things. I started on Facebook actually first and then went on to make a website after which I connected it to PayUMoney and thats how I sold my things 🙂

4. You are very popular YouTuber as well with over 16,000 followers. What is your “X-factor” that has helped you succeed on YouTube?

On YouTube I also had another channel “We Love Customade” which was managed by an MCN. Later on when I worked with them it was generally them shooting me and they giving me the scripts and stuff. So, I couldn’t do something of my own. The ideas were obviously mine but when I tried to speak some scripts in my style they always asked me to speak in a particular way and I think that is why I stopped filming on that channel.

Later on I went on to creating a new channel where I could be myself and I started reviewing things and then there was a little bit of comedy that was added with a lot of weird expressions and that is what people started liking it. That is what makes my YouTube channel a lot about me. Its more about how I am, how my personality is. It is about fashion, fancy stuff and DIY and craft but it also has a lot of fun and a lot of non sense thats happening a lot of weird things. So, people are hooked on to it because of my weird things I guess, yeah 😛

5. Recently you stopped posting on YouTube all of a sudden leaving your fans longing for more videos from you. Why was that?

I moved out of my house and I have done that only because I wanted more space. This is also closer to my full time job “Crowd Fire”. Its like 10 minutes away from my office and that is the only reason I shifted. It is very saddening that I had to leave my doggy and come :'( But it had to happen some day. And the thing is I have a LOT of things so it wasn’t fitting in one room. So, I have a 1 BHK, I rented it. I have my own things here and I live here alone so its quite feasible for me. I can do my own things and no one to disturb me which makes my filming easier.

I will get back on track. The thing is I have been trying to settle down first. My furniture needs to come and I am very restless and impatient about all these things and I don’t want to film in with half the things here and there. I want it to be perfect. Also, when I make my videos I make sure they have good quality. I don’t make it for the sake of making something. I put in a lot of efforts for editing, planning, filming and I put in a lot of time for it. If you look at my channel or any video in it you can clearly see the effort I have put in. So that takes a lot of time. Having said that, I am gonna get back soon!

6. What are the challenges you face while making a YouTube video?

You know when you think of an idea there are 7 billion people in the world and you can’t help it so there are many similar ideas already on the Internet. So obviously when I make my DIY videos most of the ideas are taken off from the Internet. I see some things then I combine those things making my own stuff. Obviously not like an entire replica but there is someone somewhere who has those same ideas already on YouTube. And then people start accusing you of stealing someone’s ideas or something. Doesn’t really happen with me all the time but once or twice it has happened. Its very annoying because you come up with something and people blame you for copying and thats very bad :'(

The other challenges are day light and lighting. I’m still learning, I have 40 videos already on my channel. However, I am still learning with lightings and editing. There are a lot of challenges when I am editing my video and the thing is I am always alone while I am filming a video so if its like something that has to be shot so I have to call my friend. Its very difficult when you are shooting alone when you have no one with you. Even when I was back at my parent’s home, my mom used to film it. But you know, moms are moms 😛 I had to be very patient with her. That was a very irritating part. However, one thing I have noticed is that whenever I put in a lot of effort in my videos, all the effort goes noticed and that is what makes it worth it. So even if there are challenges, I think they are all worth it 🙂 You just have to face it.

7. Any crazy fan stories?

Not really very crazy but yes, whenever I am like in a mall or something people recognize me and its very and you feel very very nice. If you are with friends they will be constantly teasing you like, “Oh my God, you’re a star”. Obviously they are happy for you. Its crazy when people recognize you and you don’t know them. It feels very good that people are recognizing you and people all over the Internet know you. When they come face to face they tell you how much they really enjoy your videos. That is one thing that really makes me happy 🙂

There was one story though. I was waiting for a cab once and I think there were like 3 girls screaming from a car and they were screaming out my name and everybody on the road started looking at me. These girls then got down from the car and they came running towards me and they were screaming on top of their voices 😀 They clicked a picture with me and all that. They were screaming on the road TOO LOUDLY on the road and everybody was wondering because obviously other people on the road don’t know why these girls were yelling at me. So yeah, that is one thing.

8. What projects you are currently working on? Which project is going to release first in the coming days?

There are no projects that I am working on but I am working on a lot of video ideas for now. And the project for We Love Customade is something that I have in mind which I cannot disclose at the moment. But if there is something coming out on We Love Customade it will be something like I’ll be back with a bang. But on YouTube I have a lot of video ideas lined up. I just need my time now and need to settle down. Then there will be good videos coming up on my channel 🙂

9. What do you do when you are not working?

When I’m not working that is something thats never happened. But most of the times I am not working…. I am shopping 😀 I’m always moving around and I’m around the city looking for things to spice up my room and my new house. This is something I’m doing when I’m not working like I’m looking for things that will look good in my house otherwise I’m cooking. I like cooking because that is the only time I get after working. Only time to cook and I am making sure I travel to places. Not like travel abroad or anything. I really love nature trails. Its been quite a long time I haven’t done one. Its something that really relaxes me. Thats it I think.

This just reminds me that I need to take some time off and do something for myself. Something that doesn’t go up on Instagram or Snapchat or anything. Something just for myself 😀

10. Your most memorable experience from your entrepreneurial journey?

The best memory is when there was quite a big article of mine printed on the 4th page of Times Of India. That was pretty huge for me. That is one important thing and then there were 2 or 3 more newspaper edits of mine. Now as a blogger and YouTuber I am getting to work with really huge brands like Samsung and Colgate and other brands.

11. Any message for Tell Me Nothing readers from Larissa?

I think I should be the last person to give a message to somebody but if I had to say something like an advice from my experience it would be just believe in yourself. Just have confidence in yourself. You are going to face a lot of ups and downs. A lot of depressing moments. I had one last week. I don’t know how I came out of it but I think you just have to keep pushing yourself. You HAVE to look for that one ray of light that needs to push you through your sad moments or upsetting moments. Confidence and consistency is the key. Be consistent in whatever you do. If you are being very consistent if you are giving your 100% then nothing can stop you and even after that nothing is happening then I think you are doing it wrong.

Also, don’t get into any kind of rat race. If somebody else is doing it you don’t have to do it. Do it just because you like it. Do it only if its your passion because we all are going to die someday. And nobody’s going to ask you or care about you, its only you. You have to be fulfilled with how you have lived your life.
