There is no human being in the entire world who has not suffered from the deadly virus of ‘procrastination‘. No matter how many Revitals you gulp or how many to-do lists you make, this Flash of a virus always manages to catch up somehow.
There is this war between limited time and never-ending lists, dream to keep travelling and truck-loads of work, lots to study but the heartache to go out and have some fun.
There is quite a mismatch between the need and the heart’s desire to act on that need. Why does it happen?
Steven Pressfield, the bestselling novelist and author of The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles, states the following, “Never forget: This very moment, we can change our lives. There never was a moment, and never will be, when we are without the power to alter our destiny.”
When each one of us know the importance of every moment, then why! Why do we still sit out there browsing through our screens for minutes and even hours on end?
The Culprit: Facebook, Instagram, in short android/IOS phones. Not to miss the unlimited shopping sites staring at your face each time you log in to chrome or any website ever invented. They distract you to the point of madness till your ‘procrastination’ level crosses days and even weeks. Many a times you just forget or delete things off your list as it becomes unmanageable to divide the rest of the time to complete them.
The Solution: I would not be so impossible in suggesting you to deactivate all your accounts on social networks, they are a boon if you talk about business nowadays. ‘The starting crux of every thing big cooking in your head’. Though there are apps that can help you manage your phone usage time-Procraster and Finish are must-phone apps for you. Other than that do this all-out decoration of your livable space.
Surround yourself with your work in extremely creative ways, hang (yet again)inspiring quotes, beautiful lanterns, LED lights and stuff that activates the creative and energetic you. And please do not forget to make ‘reading’ an addictive habit. It always helps in keeping your excitement for building and creating quite high.
