David Ogilvy, a living legend in the advertising industry constantly talks about the power of the readers on all forms of advertising. As long as your copy does not sell, it’s a plain failure. The main crux behind making any advertisement these days is about ‘major selling’, and least of all about your creative genius.
As a personal introduction, I am not a big fan of totally informative and academic articles, I always love to add a touch of human emotions into whatever the douche I talk about. You may call it my obsession with a deep comparison of all things around us with all things inside us. Umm, call it the difference between the Earth and its core?
So, I was just munching a packet of Oreo cookies this morning, and I suddenly thought about how stupidly sweet people are. This thought crossed my mind due to some indecent, ass-holic incident. No need to get into those earthly details.
Well, it suddenly made me think of the need for communicating yourself as a person according to your ever-changing, all-time diversified target audience.
- Firstly, it will be plain foolish if you behave sweet to everyone because your target audience is not made of the same muscle (the brain), or the same salt from the same house if I translate a Hindi saying. So keep your sweet communication skills to a selected target audience with a mindset that understands that sweetness is a pure virtue, unlike what the devils say.
- Your baboon crazy behavior is too unique to be shown to every Tom, Dick and Harry you meet in various social circles. Let these newbies call you boring or low on energy on that scientific constant. You know where to blast all that energy with your Type A selected and adorable target audience.
- Your creative genius is going to be appraised by a defined target audience. For this, you need to be aware of the thief like variety and the loud mouth variety. You just cannot communicate all your creative bubbles to the untrustworthy kind. So yeah, stomach pains are a boon for this kind of communication.
- Lastly, with the most difficult type of communication where you just need someone to share your weakness or sad thoughts about life with. DO NOT communicate till you do an adequate amount of research. Not many people understand the real you, so make sure you choose this target audience slowly and wisely.
Hope this helps in knowing how important communication is, not just in your profession but in your personal life as well.
